Flight Sergeant Charles Sydney of 92 Squadron RAF in his Mk I Spitfire R6767 coded QJ-N in action against Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109s during the Battle of Britain. Sydney was shot down and killed during the heavy fighting on 27 September 1940. This picture was made for a memorial marking the 75th anniversary of his loss.
