At some point we drove alone to an event, the event was a promise, a wedding, a gathering, a birth or a dying. We had to be there and the lights shook us again to our self blinking from the darkness. The hiss of the tires on the pavement and the sharp smell of ozone mixed with the woolly odor of stale coffee comes to focus...how far did I come and how much further is there to go? Thoughts are of a sandwich as we pass through some place on a rainy night while on the way to a event that must be kept as worlds get older.
