The remarkable sight of three Douglas C-47 Skytrain aircraft wearing invasion stripes flying together at the Imperial War Museum Duxford's D-Day 70th anniversary airshow. On D-Day itself, 6 June 1944, these planes were used to drop paratroops in Normandy ahead of the main seaborne invasion forces.
