Description
I've always had a strong attraction to abandoned buildings. When I'm shooting the quiet decay of a forgotten building, I can't help day dreaming about vivid images of the past. Abandoned buildings feel alive and on some level, I am sad when they get preserved. I want them to grow old gracefully. This image is of the Cotton Belt Freight Depot, a five story warehouse built in 1913 and located in North St. Louis, MO. This depot was once the hub for southern cotton.

Love this, Jane! Have to say I share your feelings from your description "...on some level, I am sad when they get preserved". I have said almost the same words myself! v

Looking at the lovely grafiti, I think how nice it must be for the modern day "travelers" who may take some shelter under this roof to stay dry or just relax a while. Beautiful photography! Thank you. V2 and favored.
