Artist's Description
Nearing completion: Renzo Piano's Shard skyscraper rising inexorably above the Southwark area of London. At 310 m (1,017 ft) it will be the tallest building in the European Union. Monochrome version of this photograph. Check my portfolio for pictures of the finished building in July 2012. One curiosity of this shot is that I made it just after the covered gangway onto HMS Belfast had collapsed - seen in the lower right of the image on the riverside.
