Description
A depiction of Fairey Battle Mk I K9472, WT-N of 35 Squadron, in flight near RAF Carew Cheriton in Pembrokeshire. While stationed there, the aircraft was being used for air firing practice when it crashed and caught fire shortly after take-off on 29 October 1939.
The three crew were all killed: pilot Geoffrey Arthur Cyril Rhind, wireless operator/air gunner Ewart Wynne Looker, and bomb aimer Bernard Connor. My picture was commissioned in their memory.
