Description
Adolf Galland was one of the most outstanding German fighter pilots of WWII. During the Battle of Britain in 1940 he was flying Messerschmitt Bf 109s as Gruppenkommandeur of III./JG 26, based in the Pas de Calais. On 30 October, the penultimate day of the battle, Major Galland claimed three enemy fighters destroyed to take his tally of aerial victories to 50, the last two being Spitfires from 41 Squadron. He was by then flying the yellow-nosed Bf 109 E-4, works number 5819, depicted here.
