Description
The panels - "walls of names" - at the International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) on Canwick Hill outside Lincoln, list almost 58,000 men and women who lost their lives serving or supporting Bomber Command during WWII. Designed by Place Architecture, the centre tells the stories of members of RAF Bomber Command, ground crew and civilians affected by the bombing campaigns during the Second World War. The award-winning spire, made from weathering steel, is 102ft (31.1m) high, the wingspan of the Avro Lancaster bomber and 16ft (5m) wide at the base, the same as a Lancaster wing.
A donation from the sale of this image will go to the IBCC.
