The Type 464 (Provisioning) Lancaster bomber of 617 Squadron ED906/G AJ-J for Johnny, whose Barnes Wallis-designed Upkeep 'bouncing bomb' finally smashed the Mohne Dam on 17 May 1943. "Goner" was the code signal for weapon dropped.
Pilot David Maltby, Flight engineer William Hatton, Navigator Vivian Nicholson, Wireless operator Antony Stone, Bomb aimer John Fort, Rear gunner Harold Simmonds and Front gunner Victor Hill, seen sending a 100% tracer stream at the dam defences. The crew returned from this operation but were lost that summer.
